This module establishes the foundational principles and professional standards required for neuro-critical care, focusing on the specialized role of the nurse. It emphasizes the importance of multidisciplinary teamwork and effective communication to ensure safety and quality in a high-stakes environment.
Intracranial Pressure Monitoring
This module covers the essential anatomy of the brain and the clinical manifestations of fluctuating intracranial pressure (ICP). It provides clinicians with the necessary knowledge to monitor ICP levels accurately and implement evidence-based nursing interventions to prevent secondary brain injury.
Neurological Assessment
This module details the systematic approach to performing a comprehensive neurological physical examination, including motor, sensory, and mental status checks. It trains healthcare providers to identify subtle clinical changes by mastering pupillary function reflexes and other key physical indicators.
Cranial Nerves
This module offers a detailed, step-by-step guide to examining each of the twelve cranial nerves to identify specific neurological deficits. It enables nurses to pinpoint localized dysfunctions through structured clinical testing, ranging from olfactory assessment to hypoglossal nerve function.
